Furthermore, this study is not meant to be definitive, since the general dearth of material on Nevada's Hispanics makes such a history impossible. Rather, this book was written to serve as a foundation to build toward a more comprehensive work. As with any initial study, the purpose is to stimulate and encourage other scholars to undertake the kind of smaller, detailed studies that will eventually enrich the field and enhance understanding. I hope that this work, too, will provide the groundwork and stimulate future research on Nevada's Hispanics.
